About us
“PLANTAVOREL” is a Romanian private enterprise, founded in 1825, when the King Ioan Sturza issued the Royal Decree permitting Anton Vorel to open a Drugstore named “VOREL ROYAL PHARMACY”, the eldest known phyto-pharmacy in Romania.
Because in 1948 the Communist Rulers nationalized the Company, the activity was interrupted until 1983, when it was signed the second act of birth of the famous “Vorel Laboratory”, under the name of “PLANTAVOREL” .

Today “PLANTAVOREL” is well known both on the internal and external market, in the field of research and production of phyto-pharmaceutics, dietetic and cosmetic products, made from medicinal and aromatic herbs, fruits, vegetables, cereals and beekeeping products.
The “PLANTAVOREL” products (in form of tablets, ointments, tinctures, granules, solutions from herbs or vegetal extracts), are the result of our specialists’ own research activity, with original formulas and technologies.
They are recommended both in the prophylaxis and treatment of digestive, hepatic, renal, cardiac, respiratory, metabolic and dermatologic affections. The “PLANTAVOREL” research and production activities are stimulated by the idea of a complex revaluation of the Romanian bioactive natural potential, considering that “NATURE” is the best laboratory for phyto-chemical syntheses of medicines.
The team is formed by researchers with a rich activity in the field of phyto-extracts obtaining and characterization. The research team includes: chemists, engineers, chemists, biologists, biochemists, doctors of science/PhD (in chemistry, biology), a PhD student (pharmacy) and master (pharmacy, biology, chemistry of natural compounds), laboratory operators, chemists and support staff (equipment maintenance personnel, laboratory and pilot plant, financial and implementation monitoring of the project).

Since 1996 the Research Center has developed approximatively 35 projects of National Programs (ORIZONT, AGRAL, RELANSIN, BIOTECH, CEEX, INOVARE, PNCDI C1-C2) as Project Coordinator and Partner, has obtained prizes and awards for the Research Activity (1st Prize in 2005 and 2006 – BIOTECH Program, awarded by the National Authority for Scientific Research, Bucharest, Romania; Diploma of Excellence in Research in 2000, awarded by the National Agency for Science and Technology), and has patented technologies and products based on medicinal and aromatic plants.
Activitatea sa de cercetare a fost răsplătită cu numeroase premii – premiul 1 în 2005 și 2006-Programul BIOTECH acordat de Autoritatea Națională pentru Cercetare Științifică (ANCS)-București, România și Diploma de Excelență în Cercetare acordată tot de ANCS. De asemenea, PLANTAVOREL are brevetate atât tehnologii, cât și produse care conțin plante medicinale și aromatice.

PLANTAVOREL has a vast experience in the following domains of competence:
Phyto-chemical and microbiological screening (identification of new active principles from medicinal plants and their bioactivity evaluation; phyto-chemical study of medicinal and aromatic plants and exploitation of indigenous medicinal plants);
qualitative and quantitative analyses of active principles in aromatic and medicinal plants, algae and fungi (aminoacids, polysaccharides, polyphenolcarboxylic acids, flavonoids, isoflavonoids, tannins, chlorophylls),
determination of macro- and microelements and antioxidant investigation of extractive fractions; obtaining and physical and chemical characterization of some extractive fractions with therapeutic potential;
selective extractions/conditioning of the phytocomplex in different preparations (extraction of plant metabolites: ex.: carotenoids, phytosterols, saponosides, polyphenols, monoterpenoides, flavones etc);
development of original technologies, modern and environmental friendly, which allow processing medicinal plants; extracts conditioning; as well as the development of standardized, efficient and safe bio-products.
